Okay, so I had this cute idea to do a little travel post here about the closest “big” town to where I live. Then I realized that this is actually just a thinly veiled attempt to try to get cool people to come hang out with me ![]()
But who cares, I’m still doing it!
Clarksville is the town that The Monkees are singing about taking the last train to. Those crazy Monkees.
This post will be short as there are only 3 places I could think of that anyone would actually want to visit whilst in Clarksvegas (some people call it that, I’m not sure why, but I bet they are being sarcastic).
1) The Black Horse Pub and Brewery. This place is friggin’ awesome. They don’t have a damn website for me to link up to, so I’ll have to go there and take pics of it.
This place is the only brewery I know of that brews Vanilla Cream beer – it might sound like it’d taste weird, but it’s GOOD SHIT!!!
There is going to be a Franklin Street Brewers Festival (The Blackhorse is located on Franklin Street) in two weeks – I am so going even if I have to bring my kid. Too bad she is too young and short to drive. Damnit!
2) Beachaven Winery. Their “Classic White” wine is the best! They even won a Gold Medal for it and shizz! Also, they do a nice merlot, for people who may dislike white wine because of its association with Jen Aniston
Beachaven Winery has Jazz on the Lawn shows all summer long up until the end of October.

3) Tattoo Technique. This place is cool beans. I had two done here and my husband got his big bird (ha!) chest piece here.
Here is a video I found on You Tube that a customer did for them. It’s kinda cheesy, but cute. Andy – the skinny little dude, is the one who did my husband’s, and my cover up. The girl, Christy, who did my new bird (we’re just bird people I guess!) isn’t in the video, so she probably wasn’t working there yet. Or else it’s a conspiracy by the white man, I’m not really sure.

OMG you kill me! Of course I isit you! Because I love you. Even if you’re associated with Alaska. I just finished my book. It’s done !!! America, fuck yeah!
OMG, I want to visit. You should come visit. I have a spare bedroom and I have access to alcohol via the grocery store. Um, I live in the ghetto, which is all kinds of exciting, but mountains! Yay! Real ones, not like those crappy Appalachian mountains which are really just pretend mountains.
But we really need to have a get togehter. I don’t know how we all are going to be able to do it, but where there’s a will, there’s a way, right
Yes!!! We all need to meet up somewhere and have a party! Wanda got to have a secret meeting with her “other” blog friends! How was such a thing done? We must find out and do it ourselves!!!
“crappy Appalachian mountains which are really just pretend mountains” ha! They are. The Rockies are much more impressive.
Glad to hear you are finished with your book! Yay!
Are you going on a book tour? If not, convince the publisher that one is necessary so you can visit all your blog friends
Let me tell you about my drive out here. I wasn’t too impressed until I reached South Dakota. And it’s just a two lane highway with drop off on either side and you can see mountains forever!! I almost killed myself paying more attention to the mountains than the road, cause I had only seen the Appalachians before. Mountains are amazing. Nature is amazing.
And we need a super secret meet up! And we can be sly and coy about it on our blogs!! We need to make a plan. I need to sell a bajillion copies of my book to make this happen
Secret society meeting FTW!!
I’d show up at the winery, for real. With bells on.
Yay me likes wineries.
lets meet up there.
Yay!!! I nominate Anners to plan it
hee
Also – I dig your new Kate Boz avatar! Sezy
Janers – wineries are the best! I think we should meet up there too! Or if not that exact one, any one will do
so wait… if we come there we’re gonna get drunk and get tats?! sounds like a plan stan!
i luv finding out about new places!
now what about gud restaraunts there? i know there’s gotta be a signature greasy place there!

Heee heehehee – moobs!
I know, we totally all need to figure out a way to meet up!
There are a few good places to eat – but I don’t think any of them have websites. Some are really good BBQ places too! I never really appreciated BBQ until we moved to the South
Louisville is a really cool city! I am sure we’ll be driving through there again.
A lot of people have BBQs down here and I’m so not a fan. I’m glad my dad is wasn’t of those guys obesessed with them.
Janers – Southern BBQ is a bit different than what you are thinking of. I don’t mean grilling out in your back yard, but going to a restaurant that has an actual BBQ pit. It’s like a cultural thing in the South.

The grilling in the backyard type is a cultural thing here. It’s usually a lot of steak and sausages and some potato bake, salad and white bread rolls.
Basic salad and a bread roll isn’t my favourite meal and there’s such a strong smell of cooking meat. It got better when I started eating meat but it was always so fatty looking with little burnt bits on it. Kinda seemed like cancer and a cardiac arrest waiting to happen. Why can’t we just make pizza?
